Ha, whoops, yeah pasted once too many times. Pressing ctrl+v in rapid succession from habit.

(I always have the more difficult/pain in the ass to spell fighter's name in my clipboard when doing RBR to save time and keystrokes)

...now, Romero wasn't a bum or anything, and did have other good wins (Edgar Sosa, Samy Gutiérrez, Rodel Mayol, etc.; although he was never able to conquer Gilberto Keb Baas, losing a rematch to him as well, the journeyman just having his number) but ...he shouldn't have been on Viloria's level, and arguably should have lost their next two encounters (most saw the rematch close but clear for Brian, and Romero was knocked out in the rubber match six years later).

Really confounding that Viloria essentially gave this one away to him.

On the undercard was a fun brawl between middleweights José Luis Zertuche Chávez and Carlos Bojórquez, and Andy Lee in his fourth pro bout taking on local Las Vegas clubfighter Carl Cockerham.

I've got fond memories of watching Brian on ESPN Tuesday and Friday fight nights when he was on his way up.

I was wee lad in my teens..just throwing shakas after every punch he landed.

That late career stretch of Miranda/Segura/Romero iii/Tyson truly, not "justified" or "salvaged" or "reaffirmed" but some combination of, his whole career. Great stretch. Super bummed me out when he took down Segura.

I remember this fight. Viloria was in line to have a big unification match with Koki Kameda if he won this one. Romero's workrate was too much and Viloria was relying roo much on that one punch to knockout Romero. Freddie Roach was urgently telling Viloria to throw more but Viloria was just not motivated or distracted to do so. I read somewhere that he broke up with his girlfriend right before the fight.
