15 years ago today The Golden Boy KO the Aztec Warrior to become the unified JrMW Champ, in an epic back and forth highly skilled slugfest.

The two best JrMWs squaring off, the two best Mexican Americans of that time.

Down goes Vargas on a rocket left hook!!

I wanted Vargas to win because ODLH always annoyed me, lol

Not his fighting style, just his smirk,

But it was not to be.

Vargas was always fun to watch in his early years, wow that guy peaked young.

Man De la Hoya was an amazing fighter! And I don't remember exactly where I saw it but I saw an interview where De la Hoya tried to bury the hatchet but Vargas wouldn't have it. It seems Vargas still has hate for De la Hoya and even think he didn't beat him...

Vargas defense is always too loose.

I was the only one out of roughly 10 Mexicans rooting for Oscar

Vargas was an elite boxer puncher boxer who had the misfortune of being in an era with two ATG in their prime while he was still very young.
