No, back in the old days Robinson, Armstrong, and other guys would weigh like 147 for a middleweight fight. The weight limit is supposed to be a maximum. Most guys just aren't good enough to fight and give up weight like that. Besides, for a long time there wasn't any such thing as junior middleweight. The division was established in 1962, so before that if you weighed 148 you were considered a middle.

He rehydrates to over 160 anyway.
He's sure to make the contracted 155 (1½lbs under) that way, so I don't think it's strange when the CW is only a single lb above the LMW limit.

Not for any weight class actually. There are no lower bounds, iirc Marquez also came in below the limit for one of his ww fights

What I don't get is why they have drained there selves down beyond 160? I mean Canelo will be 170+ tomorrow?

Edit- didn't know this was a cw fight

To be called a 160 champ, you should own a 160 belt. Does he have a belt? Oooops :hey

So if he beats Canelo tonight, what belt is he defending next time at 160? :huh:think

Cotto's so "called" faked MW run Looks to be over. Win or Loose, from tomorrow on Cotto isn't relevant in MW anymore and to be real, he never ever was, just hold a belt fot hostage what he got stripped now for future ducking!

He still holds the lineal belt.

The same belt Hopkins held in his MW reign. :deal

lineal isn't a belt, but you might call it some sort of title.

Who is his lineal belt mando?

Cottos fake MW run is over in latest 15 hours, win, loose or draw, ist over!

I just wants to have an excuse of not being a MW in case he loses.
