    MJ is right.

Both these guys are between JMW and MW, so neither has an advantage with this weight. Williams certainly doesn't as he can still make 147, so he's the smaller man. A weight which suits him would be under 154lbs, not over it.

Seems odd to me, unless he's heard Martinez is struggling to make 160, which I very much doubt.

I really doubt eithe guy will have trouble with 157. But still....all the crybabies about Pac's title fight....conveniently STFU?

About this the answer is easy : 151 can not apply for the lineal MW championship .

Martinez weighed 168 I think it was on fight night vs Pavlik.

He will have no problem making 157 though. It's pointless really.

Surest thing is it is not a disadvantage for Williams because he can make 154 for sure , so 157 easily. I believe it is not going to be difficult for Martinez to make 157 because he is a former LMW. But unlike Williams he probably had difficulties making 154. So I believe Williams' team knows better than myself and MJ for sure when they demand this catchweight . Williams is the bigger man but Martinez is the fatter man. Some people have higher fat percentages or just store more water and carbohydrates than others and they can not equalize these percentages to everyone's . Sometimes not even come close.

I don't care about this. I usually object to catchweights in title fights, but I do not think it matters in this one. Both guys are pretty big at 154, but both are also on the small side at 160. In my opinion the catchweight won't effect either guy much, if at all.

I agree on that. I think both of them are more effective at 154 but fighting at 157 is nothing bothering for either of them.
Williams would say it like: "we want to give the fans a good fight and stuff...blablabla..know I mean...blablabla..we both warriors and stuff..weight don't matter and stuff; know I mean "

maybe it's just a mental strategy to make martinez think he's struggling to lose weight when he's just doing fine. or he really might be struggling. I remember Williams saying he'd have no problem going to 147, but things aren't always that peachy. Williams is a pretty tall guy and like Hearns eventually he's gonna have to be movin on up.

I don't think he will need to go up in weight. Even though he has a big frame and doesn't have a big bone structure. Also Hearns had enormous strenght and power. Williams doesn't: he got crazy stamina and a very good chin. Different kind of animal IMO
