i would like to see championship fights 15 rounders...but i dont know if todays fighters are as duarable as our older ones.
I think 15 rounds would only make fighters slow down even more, to save themselves for a fight that might go the distance. Now I've seen a LOT of 15-rounders, and a lot of good ones too, but far too many of them end up with two exhausted fighters just leaning on each other for three rounds. That's boring to watch. Also, I don't want to see fighters get injured because they're too exhausted. Sure, they get exhausted in 12 or less, too... but it's much easier to plan for 12 than for 15. I like 12. 12 is good.
It does make you wonder how it could change the scope. Bareknuckle boxing fights for 2 hours? How fast a pace do you think they'd be fighting at. Sports training and science have improved imensely since the old 15-rounders, and I think today's top tier fighters could go 15-rounds, however most would probably pace themselves a notch slower than they currently do. Without taking a swipe at our current generation, do you think today's fans would have the patience to sit through 15-rounds? I enjoy sitting through 12-rounds of good boxing, yet I continually hear that it's too long from casual fans. Simply looking at it from a marketability point-of-view it could be difficult to sell to a generation that wants a product immediately thats explosive from the outset that finishes as soon as it comes in i.e. 2-round KO.
