There's been a lot of speculation about the Calzaghe and Hopkins fight. The two men who've dominated at 160 and 168 for so long. But over the last 20 years who are the top ten. I started watching boxing when Eubank first came onto the scene. I don't know much about the quality of lesser known Non-Brit fighters like Kalambay, Frankie Liles etc. So please correct me if you feel that these type of fighters should be on the list in place of the fighters I have more knowledge of. My list is as follows: Roy Jones Bernard Hopkins Mike McCallum Joe Calzaghe James Toney Chris Eubank Michael Nunn Nigel Benn Michael Watson Gerald McClellan
I agree wholeheartedly. He is still growing as a fighter. I think he will be the class of SMW for the forseeable future.
Bute is a good fighter, B+ at present. I'm not sure whether he can go beyond that, there are some major flaws to iron out. I favour him over all but Kessler at SMW, and I pick him to beat Pavlik by T/KO At LHW he loses to Calzaghe and Dawson. But overall, he's top 5 at 160-175
I believe he would lose to Dawson, probably on points Kessler, likewise Calzaghe, same again He's got a solid chin, and remains competetive in all these fights which is why I see him lasting the distance
Pretty decent list. Kalambay was a good fighter, but his 1st round KO loss to Nunn stains his record.
Maybe drop Hopkins a bit on that list while the others has wins against atleast one other on the list Bhop only have one fight and that was a loss to a one handed Jones. He spend most the 90s defnding against sub par mandatories the sam Calzaghe get so much slack for and when stepping up he fought fighters goin up in weight.
