Come on, Ray is too small for Hopkins. His best weight is clearly 147. Hagler would have beaten him quite easly, if he wasn't so stupid to try and outbox Leonard from the outside.

leonard is a great fighter, you can't just fight one way for 15 rounds aginst someone of his abilities.

Leonard is faster than Hopkins that would be the key for me.

I think their styles clash and itd be close, techinical fight with not too many punches being thrown.

Id giv it to Leonard on pts, could look a lot like the first Hop - RJJ fight.

Hopkins all the way. 9 rounds to 3. Leonard gets knocked on his ass if he tries to go for broke at the end of the fight.

the fight between hopkins and roy jones wasn't even close, roy jones was a level above hopkins at the time they fought.

i know i will get some stick for saying this but i think prime hopkins would beat prime roy jones at 160.

    How exactly?

You cannot time Prime Roy Jones. How else is Hopkins going to win?

It wasnt close, but an anti climatic fight was my point, I dont see much action in a Leonard - Hop fight.

you can time any fighter that throws a punch, roy jones was a great fighter but hopkins had the style that would make roy jones work non existant. a prime hopkins had the ability to make a fighter pay for his mistakes, thats why he was never clearly beaten in his prime, roy jones would fall into hopkins traps, he would try to control the centre of the ring but his punches wouldn't have a major affect on hopkins, jones would cause problems for hopkins with his speed but as the fight goes on hopkins will begin to take control, he would out work jones and slowly take the rounds. i can't see roy jones ever hurting hopkins, but i can see hopkins hurting roy jones with a straight right.

i think hopkins would take a close decison, i think jones would have the better of the first 4-5 rounds but then hopkins will begin to take control with his affective counter punching.

    Hopkins would win.

Though robbery quite likely since Ray is a glamour boy and Hopkins only gets decisions if he dominates.

Logic says that Hopkins would win, but I would not bet against Ray Leonard.

Take it you have not watched the Jones vs Hopkins fight recently then?

Hopkins lands flush twice in the fight with straight rights. Nothing happend.

pre-prime Jones beat pre-prime Hopkins. 8-4/9-3 easy with a broken hand.

Hopkins would not have been able to deal with Jones essentially counterpunching him, and Hopkins lacks the speed to land consistantly on Jones and the power if he did land one to stop Roy.

Go watch more of them both. Hopkins could not beat Jones peak for peak.
