This is pro boxing guys....even the manager and the team need to get it right along with the fighter regarding fight day and prep. I dont like hearing the weight card when a fighter gets beaten If the team can get their **** together and make weight and the fighter cant prepare and lose weight consistantly then its their own fault. In no way should anything be taken from Martinez and his great win :deal
he should have realised he couldn't make the weight comfortably and made martinez fight up a weight division. hmm sound familiar?
His team hasn't made one excuse or mentioned the weight issue. Maybe you can pull up a link or a post fight interview where they are apparently making excuses. But from different sources it seems credible that he struggled. His fight night weight is a good indicator of how much he dried out. Believe it or not Ash, some fighters hit a wall when it comes to making weight. It doesn't come easy for a lot of people. Nate Campbell made 135 for most of his career but couldn't do it for the Funeka fight. His body just couldn't lose the last 2 pounds like it normally did. Here's the facts though Ash - Pavlik did make weight and went ahead with the fight. Not like your boyfriend who rocks up to a weigh in at what ever weight he likes. "even the manager and the team need to get it right along with the fighter regarding fight day and prep" Was this meant for Khoder and Choc?
Jet...I'm talking about you guys making excuses not team Pavlik Dont cheapen Martinez great win here by saying Pavlik was dry atsch Pavlik looked fine to me...same robo pav as always
I think in Lenny Zappa's last fight Angulo came in about a kilo and a half above the weight limit. ...fuc_ken disgraceful and shows the fighter didn't give a rats about the bloody limit! This sort of stuff is happening far too often!
I didn't see the fight but good judges say that Martinez simply has Pavliks number and would win a rematch if they had one.. I can go along with that. I'm not cheapening anything. But I think I know the sport well enough to know that drying out can have a negative effect on performance. Sometimes it's no ones fault...it's just the way the human body reacts. Watching Choc at mw....you would be very familiar with a fighter not making weight. "even the manager and the team need to get it right along with the fighter regarding fight day and prep" Does that apply to Khoder and Mundine???
True in that case. Although two weeks notice wouldn't have helped. But your point is valid considering he misses weight almost every fight. Angulo is done at 135. He will now fight at 140. Believe it or not, he had a tko 3 not long after Zappa. And he has another fight on May 1. They just want $. I communicate quite regularly with his manager/trainer - he wants to fight in Oz but it's hard finding a promoter here that is interested. I ran it by Lance Gostelows team. They have other plans but haven't dismissed it if it falls through. Angulo not being rated now doesn't help the cause.
It's more an attitude thing than a capability thing with Mundine. Who was the recent visitor who team Mundine told: 'we'll come in at what weight we choose, and you can get on the next plane home without getting paid if you don't like it'. Think it was Falliga? (and Mundine went in 3 or 4 pounds heavier than him). Feel free to correct me if I have it wrong.
Yeah I didnt see the Falinga fight so I'm not sure if thats what happened. When it comes down to it choc took his time getting down but the fights were catch weight fights and not for any title. He is a MW now and he may stay or go down again but he will make weight as it will be a title fight so the officials will be on to it.
Oh I dont know mate....just here to :stiryou up a bit before I go away for a 10 days :yep I wont have any internet so gotta keep you guys honest
