That's how good he is. People say this HW era is weak but even the best active 168/175 pounders aren't fit to carry Calzaghe's jockstrap that's how good Joe Calzaghe is!!!!! Let us assess further: People Joe Beat Hopkins Jones Lacy Reid Bika Veit Shieka Kessler Eubank Woodhall Mitchell Current boxers Calzaghe would school Pascal (An old man put him out of breath; now imagine Joe's workrate) Diacanu Dawson (overated US hype job exposed) Tarver (easy win Tarver couldn't handle pressure) Ward (Joe is too experienced, too fast, too slick with too much stamina) Froch (Too 1 dimensional) Abrahham (Lol!) Bute (Joe would put 10x the pressure Andrade put on him with skills) Johnson (Joe is too slick to get hit flush ergo would win on workrate points) Green Cloud (Too 1 dimensional) Bottom line is there are no active 168 or 175 boxers who could beat Joe. None. The absolute best a hater could do is argue a prime Jones would beat Joe but this is prime Jones we're talking about here - other than him none beat Joe and there's no shame in saying that fight would be close or even giving Jones the nod; none. Hate him all you like but these are his divisions and his shadow still reigns supreme! You know it, I know it, the world knows it.
yup only calzaghe fans(mostly the brits) have to keep reassuring themselves that he was good lol. continue to do whatever you to do to rationalize that to yourselves lol
Ward is still pretty green and people fill the need to already pit him against Calzaghe. That's how good he is. This guy is going to get better and better. Let him establish himself as a P4P star first, then we'll talk about him vs Calzaghe, not Ward with only 4 world level fights under his belt.
:good No one else care about JC. LOl If i was saying this, the last thing I would show is his resume. Its hardly that impressive.:-(
I am tired of this. Calzaghe was a really good fighter who the current crop should thank for helping to put the smw division into the spotlight it currently enjoys...... That being said.... the guy's competition during his prime was unimpressive...to say he would beat this fighter or that fighter is completely baseless. To say he would beat prime atg's, or prime studs of any era is speculation. People like to say he was undefeated and possessed these marvelous qualities that would carry him to victory over any fighter......but he didn't do it against the best, he did it against these guys........ So, with that.......judge for yourself.............. http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=92045&highlight=calzaghe+bums+proper+breakdown
The fact that people are still having to justify Calzaghe's resumé even after he's retired by saying things such as 'Look, Calzaghe beat Kessler who went on to beat Froch', 'Bika gave Ward a rough night aswell, which makes Calzaghe's win look better', 'Calzaghe beat Hopkins who beat Pascal, showing Hopkins is still elite and Calzaghe has a great win' and even as far as **** like 'Calzaghe beat Kessler who beat Froch who beat Pascal who beat Dawson who was one of the top P4P fighters, [somehow] improving Joe's legacy' is a testament to the fact that his resumé is poor for a so called 'ATG'.
I think Calzaghe is great (an ATG). But since he retired, his name and threads now belong in the Classic Forum. :hi:
