    Fair enough.
I think Kessler has a better singular win, but overall resume I think Ottke has a greater resume.
Still I rate Kesslers SMW resume very highly

    Really?
Won a world title in his 13th fight
21 title defences and was a winner of 22 world title fights

C Brewer the then IBF SMW champ for the title, beaten twice
G Johnson who went on to become the Ring & IBF LHW champ
S Branco who went on to become the WBA LHW champ
A Mundine who went on to become the 2 time WBA SMW champ
B Mitchell the then WBA SMW champ and 2 time WBA champ
R Reid the former WBC SMW champ and still world class
A Krajnc the former WBO MW champ (a smaller fighter)
M Larsen world class who went on to become European champ
R Markussen world class who went on to become European champ
    T Tate beaten twice
    D Starie
    J Butler

Looks a good SMW resume to me

I think you may be confusing the WBO with another organisation there. I think I know which one.
Around that time the WBO were involved in several unifications. I can think of several instantly from around that time

I agree its a shame they didnt fight but dont think it hurt either that much at all.
Its no different to many other situations, even ones that were happening at the same time.
Jones/Michalczewski instantly comes to mind, but both are considered by many as top LHWs and once again, its a shame they never fought but I dont think it hurt either when you look at their careers

In think Kessler was badly faded before the S6 with eye problems.

I dont think it becomes a derogatory. I think its a shame they never fought but not the be all and end all. They both had great careers

Yes overall it would be Calzaghe, but Ottke did have a great run

At SMW, Calzaghe had the better wins in Eubank and Kessler,

I think Ottkes best win was Mitchell, which was a good win

He didn't beat Reid in the eyes of anyone remotely objective. It was a legendary robbery even with the referee doing everything he possible could to help Sven out.

Dont know how you work that out?
Calzaghe had 24 world title fights and only fought half of them in the country he grew up and was living in.
What are you going on about?

I think you should watch some of those fights rather than just listen to the rumours.
Yes the Reid one was full of controversy but I cant see how you saw Johnson or Starie beating him?

If you look at my post before this one you will see I commented on that fight but on paper he has that win. Like I felt Fury beat Wilder when they first fought but on paper it is a draw and that was why the rematch was so big in many ways due to the undefeated records

Other situations? There's another situation where two guys are racking up 20 defenses in the same division, at the same time? No...

Re-read what i said. I didn't say unification w/ the WBO NEVER happened.

There's controversial and then there's Ottke Reid. It was one of the most shameful examples of bias and corruption in boxing. I don't know a single person who has seen that fight who wasn't disgusted by both the officiating and the scorecards.

He deserves no credit for that fight whatsoever in my eyes.
