168 ATG Sven Ottke looking sharp!

Someone told me that wlad, no matter the competition, deserves respect for a 10 year reign.

why are the rules changed for Ottke?

 

Wlad didn't have dodgy decisions amongst that lacklustre decade. He also made a lot of the biggest fights available to him. Ottke can say either of those things.

 

wlad never unified all the belts same as Ottke.

he had poor opposition.

allegations of cheating against Haye , pulev, povetkin.

Lost 5 times

very similar by comparison.

 

Wlad's opp may have been poor, but he fought about everyone who was there. Can't say the same for Ottke. The similarities are superficial at best.

 

I would say they are pretty similar.

Wlad gets the edge obviously- mainly due to his effort against AJ, pulev and POV. but Ottke isn’t far off

well wlad stunk out the place against POV, should be his signature win but he performed so badly it isn’t spoken about.

pulev is so average and we both know it.

he showed balls against aj in a losing effort

 

You can't be serious? Wlad did unify the belts. He held three major titles when he lost to Fury.

He had an ugly style but he never had a referee warn an opponent for punching him in the face or a points decision that the world thought was utterly ridiculous.

 

Wlad never held the wbc. He never held all the belts. Ottke never unified all the belts either.

Wlad should should have had at least two points off against POV, Haye and fury for a blatant head butt

 

Did you just discover Wlad at the end of his career or something?

 

True...first time I've seen a fighter warned for punching his opponent legally - again and again and again.

 

From time to time I still watch the Ottke-Mundine fight for pure pleasure.

Ottke was tough and very durable. Too bad he never ventured outside of Germany to unify.

A lot of solid fights were never made during that time period.

 

In later years he came across to me as a special breed of a fighter. The few times he got dropped he came back stronger.

 

no I know well of his average defences against leaps I, Botha. Pianeta, mormeck, and getting kod etc

 

They didnt rack up those defences at the same time. Ottke made all those defences in that time but Calzaghe didnt.
Calzaghe had around 10 defences in that time, so you are not correct. Again.
So yes Other situations like I noted with Jones and Michalczewski. Jones made around 12 defences at LHW in the time they were both in the division as champions. More than Calzaghe in a similar situation and both for a similar amount of time.
