I think GGG would be even better at 168 then he is at 160.

    For starters...

    1. He'd get bigger and better fights, and will be introduced to a new crowd of fans with those bigger and better fights .

    2. He'll be one of the faster guys in the division, since he's naturally a little smaller.

    3. He has INCREDIBLE power at 160, so he'll have pretty good to great power at 168.

    4. He'll have more competitive fights, with guys who could probably take his punches.

    5. We'll see how his chin is.

    6. His boxing skills will improve because the Knockout won't always be an option AND at times he'll be walked down by bigger guys.

    7. If he clears out 168, he'll shoot up the P4P rankings, no questions asked.

    8. He's 32!. How much time does he have left being as good as he is now, you really want to see him stay in his prime, untested, fighting tomatoes?

If the only other guy at 160 wont fight (Maravilla) why would you stay?

Go to 168 and put on a clinic :bbb

Why is no one encouraging this?

Because he first has to control his own division, in wich his strengths have yhe most impact. Like Floyd at 147.
Plus it is one of the original divisions with lots of history wich 168 isn't.

After that he can always step up. But he shouldn't be forced because of politics and opponents being afraid.

Ward looms at 168 and his fans know in their heart of hearts that Ward does a number on GGG.

ggg needs to fight Sergio first the lineal champion (who is avoiding him) then move up how does it make sense for him to jump up without winning a world title at the weight class he is at ?

160 is his natural division. It would be nice to see him do a bit more there first. I think most people want to see him go up to 168 but after he's fought a couple of the very best at 160.

Also tbh there really isn't that much more at 168. IMO he's better off persevering in trying to get the big fights at 160 for another two years if necessary and then move up. He'll still be reasonably young, JMM, Pac, Floyd, Hopkins, Calzaghe, Froch etc were all still able to perform in their mid 30's.

He's been at 160 for almost a DECADE...yet you want him to "do a bit more" in that DEAD division.

He's heavilly favored against everybody at 160 and has nothing to prove so why not CHALLENGE himself(like certain fighters are required to)instead of laguishing in the MW wasteland?

Those foreign fighters aren't very amitious.

He was ready to fight Bum jr at 168 but not Ward...sounds like a duck to me:deal

How is Sergio avoiding that bum??

    He's been rehabing his knee.

GG was ready to jump to 168 for Jr but not for Ward....THAT is avoiding a fighter.:deal

Perhaps Ward's contract issues will be sorted out by the time Golovkin actually gets a chance to smash Martinez at MW and move up.

Maybe because JCCjr. is a bigger name than Ward, and was also due for a PPV showdown should they have come to terms with one another. :conf

    Doesn't mean he'll actually beat Sergio's old overated as.s.

    That's not how boxing works.

Did you see Macklin's last fight BTW??

Dude is pure garbage...no wonder he couldn't even beat the dreaded Felix Sturm.

The washed-up remains of Javier Castilejo put Strum to sleep on the ropes...if not for the ref he would have landed on his face.

It's because he shouldn't have to move up, the other top guys at 160 should be willing to man up and fight someone as dangerous as GGG, but they won't because they're chicken ****. GGG should just stay put until these other guys are forced out, retire, lose their titles, etc., then GGG can slowly unify the division. Just like Hopkins did years ago at 160. He held on to the IBF title forever until unification fights became available at which time he unified them.
