A fit James Toney was very special. Imo he could have been one of the best. His lack of discipline was his short coming. Imo Toney was more skilled than Mayweather, so im going with a prepared Toney by UD. That doesn't mean he is a greater fighter than Canelo.
There are not many established smw champs from previous that I would favour Alvarez to beat but Toney is one that I would favour Alvarez to beat I'm not saying Alvarez's smw resume is great but Toneys smw resume is not great. People may site him beating Barclay forgetting Benn had already beaten him in quick time already, or Toney beating Thornton forgetting Eubank had already clearly beaten him. I think it could easily be argued Toneys best win at the weight was Littles I think Alvarez could win this one by outworking Toney like Tiberi or even by outboxing
If Toney turns up in shape with his head right he should win 116-112 type of decision but it won’t be easy.
I think his best win at 168lbs was against Prince Charles Williams, but the Barkley win was unreal, Barkley had just beat Hearns for the 2nd time at light heavyweight.
You know that song, where the guy tells a hooker named Roxanne "you don't have to put on the red light"? Well, this would be the opposite. You do have to put the cinnamon light out, James. Do it for Javier...for Archie...for Gennadiy. Do it for all of us.
