If I tell them they beat Lacy, all you'll hear is crickets. If I tell them Joe beat Hopkins & RJJ, they'll remember that name forever.
They don't know who lacy is? well, left hook was a prospect at best, he will never be a bhop or a roy jones but I think it was lacy who made boxing fans realize that calzaghe is not just another british champion.
In beating Hopkins was more imressive. Beat RJJ wasn't. But on paper & 20 yrs from now, beating RJJ & Hopkins looks way better than a win over Kessler.
On paper perhaps. But in reality ,at the time no. Hopkins was 40 odd & had been beat by Taylor twice. Forget how it looks in 20 years from now, think about how it really was.
I hope you won't write the history books. Kessler is a miles ahead win compared to Hopkins and Jones.
you said the key word.... so you basically agree with me as of TODAY nothing in going on in 168... potential means nothing if theres no progress... i havent seen any progress in 168 what are you talking about? cotto was obviously the man to beat @ 147 after beating zab & shane... he had more momentum than anyone in 168 has thats for damn sure..... de la hoya is the trophy fight that everyone in 147 fights one another for an opprotunity to fight against.... dont play silly... i read all boxing articles and everything in 168 is just about one guy waiting to see what the next guy is doing who is being waited on by another guy... its just a long line of bull**** 147 - 130 > 168
We're not talking about anyone's biggest win. You said the top two guys at 160 beat everyone at 168. I'm assuming you mean Pavlik and Abraham. Pavlik has shown zero evidence that he can be dominate above 160. Even at 164, where he was for the second Taylor fight, he looked less impressive than at MW. But you think he beats every established fighter at 168? I notice you didn't even mention Abraham, who's done nothing above 160 except KO a chinny Miranda who's not even a top 10 SMW.
