I have Froch. In dismantling Pascal and then beating Taylor, his stock rises to #1 for me, with Bute having unfinished business with Librado Andrade and Kessler stuck under the thumbscrews of Mogens Palle. What does your top ten look like? 1. Froch 2. Kessler 3. Bute 4. Andrade 5. Bika 6. Green 7. Taylor 8. Berrio 9. Balszay 10. Miranda There is also an excellent group of #11-17 or 18 fighters too who will keep this group honest.
Kessler is a lot better than Froch. He has a better guard, better jab, more speed, doesn't throw his chin up in the air, can slip punches, doesn't swing wildly, has just as much power etc. Froch beat Pascal by a couple of rounds, and he was 14 seconds away from getting embarrassed by Taylor. It's not as if he's done a job on the division! In any case, Pascal wasn't a guy with great enough credentials to merit top place. Kessler vs. Froch would look like Kessler vs. Andrade II, but with a stoppage.
All fair points, and I would install Kessler as a huge favorite against Froch, but it just comes down to the fact that Froch is willing to do what needs to be done and fight dangerous contenders while Kessler is sitting on a title, managerial problems or not.
And he has done (x) since then. Seriously, I'm not hating on Kessler, but his last notable fight was a loss to Joe "Mother****in'" Calzaghe. For my money, Froch is the #1 guy at 168; he is willing to go and fight anyone, and he can win in late rounds. That goes a long way with this American.
So is Kessler and thats the problem his promotor, he will/can't get him the big fights, so Kessler is trying to get rid of him. Is it hard to understand?
01- Kessler (WBA) 02- Bute (IBF) 03- Froch (WBC) 04- Andrade 05- Taylor 06- Bika (IBO) 07- Balzsay (WBO) 08- Dirrell 09- Ward 10- Pascal
The Pascal fight was very close, no a 'dismantling' IMO. I have Froch at 3, behind Bute and Kessler (kessler at no.1 obviously)
Yep and thats great news, but based on recent fights Froch makes a good case for the #1 spot. I'm a bigger fan of Kessler than I am of Froch, and think Kessler would beat him quite handily.
No, but winning the bigger fights against the better known and obviously more fitting boxers, like I said before, goes a long way in my book.
