Difficult one, this - Kessler for me is clearly the best at the weight, but like unclepaulie mentioned, his inactivity is really hurting his status. Putting Froch at no.1 based on his last two fights is not unreasonable. Palle's a dick for wasting Kessler like this.

    Kesller
    Bute
    Andrade
    Froch

Froch beating Taylor is not enough to propel him at #1 at 168 . . . Taylor only beat a worn out Lacy prior to Froch beating him. :deal

  4. I think Kessler is the best in the div..... but on Paper he doesn't have a better win than Froch v Taylor

His whole rep seems to have been based on losing to Calzhage...... And damn he has such a padded record it's amazing ..... 42 fights an his biggest name is a loss

Froch deserves the rank of no.1 but i think that Kessler would probably beat him.

Kessler is still top, for a couple of months. If he doesn't fight or fights someone outside of the top 5 in the Ring rankings, he should be demoted through no fault of his own.

He has a LOT of very decent fighters on his record. Depth is seriously there. He lost to an elite fighter, but no-one else at super-middle has beat one either.

I think many posters weren't following boxing at the time. They just don't know the guys Kessler beat. They say, who is he? And for them that's a proof he's fought only bums. You cannot think Froch vs Pascal is a good win and say Kessler has fought nobodies. You just can't.

Kessler has some decent fighters on his resume, but recently he's been struggling to get any fights of merit, and as the #1 will change as other fighters win/lose fights then it should count against him. It's a crying shame that Palle is such a ****, but it's also unfair on other figthers who are having and winning big fights to Keep Kessler at the #1 spot if he's not done anything over the last few years.

Losing a split decision to Taylor on his home turf would have been 'embarrasing'?

Of the top of my head:

    Kessler
    Froch
    Bute
    Taylor
    Andrade
    Bika
    Balzsay
    Green

That's eight, though some of those could be interchangeable and then the last two could really be any two from eight or nine that are mostly unexposed.

It's a tough one. Froch deserves to be ranked No.1 as his win over Taylor is the biggest win of any of the guys at SM but I'd say Kessler is the better fighter, just needs to go show it.
