Beterbiev, Bivol, Kovalev, and you can even throw Gvozdyk in there.

Yet none of them are fighting one another. I don't get it. It is disappointing. I thought for sure after the Ward fights we'd see Kovalev-Beterbiev but it still doesn't even seem like it is close to happening.

Certainly I can't be the only one who is disappointed with this as these are some of the best fights to make in the div.

They will. Stevenson needs to get disposed of first then the big unification fight between Gvozdyk and Bivol will happen. Or even better Gvozdyk vs Beterbiev. Then Kovalev for all the marbles.

    Those fights will be wicked.

I guess I'm just a bit concerned that there hasn't been any noise from any of them about fighting one another--at least that I can tell. I mean, awhile back Kov and Artur were trading some barbs but Kov. was in the middle of his fights with Ward I believe. I just hate missed opportunities is all, and these are some really great fights to be made I think.

If they win their next fights Kovalev and Bivol will fight next. They have been building it for the last couple of fights by fighting on the same card.

But in the meantime we have Kovalev V Alvarez which is a quality fight and Bivol v Chilemba which is decent enough as well.

Beterbiev has been in a lawsuit between Top Rank and GYM which GYM have just won so I'm not sure if that helps or not but probables ends any hopes of him fighting Gvozdyk anytime soon.

Stevenson will probably fight Jack again as that's easiest money for PBC to make.

Kovalev and Bivol will fight each other if they win their next fights.

Beterbiev has had promotional difficulties, and also has a mandatory (Callum Johnson), while Gvozdyk is struggling to get good opponents. He's also a friend of Kovalev so they don't want to fight each other.

Betterbiev lost a court decision, and said he was going to appeal, so more years wasted. Idiot.

Well, Kovalev has already expressed his desire to fight Beterbiev (there's some kind of old animosity between them). Though I'm not sure Krusher's promoters will be to happy about this fight (it's too risky). Also, Beterbiev is not ready "promotion wise" — fighting like once a year and not against the best opposition.

Kovalev and Bivol fighting on the same boxing night for the second time is not a coincidence, I guess — at one point they should fight each other. It's just that Bivol needs a little bit more experience first.

Gvozdyk (he's a Ukrainian boxer, but yes, can be considered as belonging to the same post-soviet wave of figthers) has no time for this now — his attention is fixed on the WBC belt. Also, he's not completely ready yet for such a big fight.

The most annoying division in boxing. Filled with talent, void of fights. It wouldn't be so bad if half the guys weren't hitting mid 30s now.

Gvozdyk is 31 (with ridiculous amateur pedigree) and already has faced two contenders, how much more ready do you need to be.

@Cafe, there is an opinion that amateurish boxing and professional boxing are two different sports...
So, yes, at 31 years of age Gvozdyk, unfortunately, has fought only once for all 12 rounds... And his best opponent was who... Chilemba?

So, it's not about age, but about starting his pro career rather late and struggling to get good opponents to fight him.

Unfortunately, at this point, it is about age. He has absolutely no time to dilly about. At 31 he should already be a belt-holder with few defenses under his belt at the very least.

Chilemba, Gonzalez these are two guys who are pretty much just below championship level, he beat them both with relative ease (I haven't watched the Gonzalez fight but I assume it was since it's a TKO3). The only way is up now to those big fights.

Also, he's got Karpency and Mohammedi under his belt, not as good as the two above but also contender (albeit weak) level guys.

I agree, he's not likely to get Stevenson, Kovalev or Beterbiev in the ring with him. But he should definitely jump on those fights if they are available to him, it shouldn't be about readiness because he's as ready now as he'll ever be.

Perhaps Bivol, Gvozdyk and Browne should just get fights between each other as well? Hey, why not,. I'd love to see them, would spark some life in the division, they'd build their profiles as well with actual quality wins.
