The final 1st round match-up is an interesting one, between one of the ATG light-heavys (and possibly top puncher) against a more recent fighter who was very strong in his prime and has a fair few fans himself. 12 rounds, no reason no vote:good
Darius attempts to crowd Archie and through sheer volume to outwork Moore and win rounds. This works until the 6th, when Archie catches his man with a right left combo that freezes Darius. In the 7th, a big left to the head, and a right downstairs followed by another left to the jaw puts Daruis down. He gets up and finishes the round, but is unsteady in the 8th, and Archie decks him again with a series of blows, and after Darius staggers up and nearly goes down again without being hit, the ref stops it. Moore tko 8 Michalczewski.
This has all the makings of an early exit. Not to denigrate Dariusz, it's a matter of styles and I don't see him showing the Mongoose anything that he can't solve. I see Dariusz being too 'available' and leaving in 3. Scartissue
Moore's jab and skills see him outboxing Darius, Dariusz would look to press the action but Archie would counter DMs best efforts. The skill difference is too much for DM here. I think a late KO or wide UD for Moore
I think Daruisz, whilst strong, tough and sound, would be out of his depth here. Once Moore gets into his rhythm (around the 7th round I think after a lot of unclean inside work from both men and clinching as both men struggle to get off at their desired ranges) the shots would be bouncing off Michalczewski's head with alarming regularity. He doesn't go down, but after a massive left hook sends him reeling back to the ropes, Moore is standing straight in front of him and landing with precise hooks with both hands. The referee stops it. Moore; TKO 7.
Michalczewski had a solid chin but he always got hit a bit too much in my opinion. Against Montell Griffin he was really being tagged for three rounds until finding his mark with a combination which ended the fight. I can't imagine Dariusz being able to take too many of Moore's punches but I wouldn't count out the possibility of a Moore-Durelle I type of a war if Dariusz does indeed land on Moore's chin. Unlikely though because at his best, Moore was very hard to hit and he also hit very hard. :good
Moore for me, he'd be able to create and exploit openings fighting how he does best in my opinion. And then he'd start scoring with his own jab and rights, and jhard ones at that. Moore to win a chess match.
Michalczewski to start well and win the first few rounds even but as he gets confident he gets caught and Moore knock him out mid-fight.
The Dariusz of the Hill fight would have given Moore a hard nights work albeit in a losing effort, he was using his jab beautifully in there and fought a very disciplined and smart tactical fight and he did all behind that punishing and accurate jab. But Virgil Hill aint no Archie Moore however and ol Arch was a lot more clever and hard hitting and he would set traps for the Pole that he would walk right into and get clocked with some awfully solid and accurate blows time and again. Dariusz would likely be stopped on cuts imo, his chin in his prime was very sturdy however his skin was always cut prone and Archie would have carved his face up and stopped him that way I think, although a clean KO or late TKO isnt out of the question either, however I do think Dariusz boxing ability, solid jab and toughness would see him do well early on and win some rounds before Moore starts finding him with more regularity and lands some accurate punches that start tearing the Poles face apart thus forcing the stoppage around the 9th round.
