175 lb 1st Round-Bernard Hopkins vs Willie Pastrano

Bearing in mind Hopkins didn't have a great deal of fights at lightheavy I see Pastrano boxing his way to a decision. Pastrano too slick and experienced to be drawn into Hopkins type of fight.

 

Hopkins never finds Pastrano to pull any of his tricks on..in fact he has to be told what Willie looks like after the bout, which he loses by a decision. Seriously, not only would Willie win this fight, but it would have served as the blueprint, as I've suggested, in one of my more inspired, lucid moments (which are hard to come by sometimes) to beat Hopkins. A mobile, fast, fluid boxer with great legs, and a pathological dread of getting hit, two fitting descriptions of Pastrano, would be kryptonite to Bernard. Again, Pastrano in an upset w15 Hopkins.

 

12 rounds? Why 12? Pastrano by a 12 round decision then.

Ah fair enough, 'road to title' kind of thing. Admittedly, no fighter started their career doing fifteen rounders.

Yeah but on the flipside, a modern fighter with questionable stamina may, over twelve rounds, just about stave off a stronger fighter who'd have ****ed him in the next round.

But it's a minor difference, doesn't bother me.

 

Since we're basically talking about CHAMPIONS here, of the past as well as present, why do they have to prove themselves in a 12 rounder at all...the 15 round limit should be a given, otherwise, why not start them out in 10 rounders or 8 rounders?

 

I'd prefer the 15.

 

I like Pastrano, for one i would find it a little disresectful not to ick him actually, considering the relative careers they had at the weights, although Bernard's performances there have all been good.

Anyway, i reckon Pastrano isn't one to be dictated to and would do a lot of hitting in bunches and moving. Bernard would win some rounds though for me, trying to slow the pace with lead stiff rights etc, but he'd lose clear.
