175 lb 1st Round-Marvin Johnson vs Michael Moorer

I'll have to watch this one all the way through later, nice one. Great exciting fight full of activity frm what i've already seen.

 

Mid rounds stoppage for Marvin over a weight weakened and chinny Moorer who didn't really achieve a huge amount at LH.

Maybe I'm older than you, I still always think of him as Matt Franklin :yep

 

I`d favour Marvin`s early blitzkrieg attack to get Moorer out of there within 5-6 rounds, Johnson was always a fast starter and was at his most dangerous in the first half of a fight, after the midway point he tended to slow down a notch. But in those first few rounds Marvin really laid on the pressure something fierce, and I am doubtful Moorer would be able to survive that onslaught to be honest.

And Marvin was most definately a very hard hitting lightheavy, if he catches Moorer with something big and hurts him the end wouldn`t be too far off for Mike as Johnson was a very good finisher once he had his man reeling. Moorer`s best bet to victory would be to carefully box and look to counter Marv`s early all-out attack with movement and counterpunching while letting him do most of the work so that he wears himself out.

He would lose the first several rounds this way more than likely but once Johnson slows down a notch and becames more stationary and his defense is a litle bit more open Moorer can up the pace and start taking the fight to him and look to unload his own bombs. Whichever way this fight plays out its gonna end in a knockout thats for sure, I very much doubt this one goes to the cards.

Finally, common sense is kicking in.

A 175lbs Moorer with less than 50 completed pro rounds to his name, should not even be rated in the top 32, let alone going into the second round, of what should be an exceptional quality tournament.

if saad muhammad stopped him twice , and he was not that tough himself , not that talented also , moorer would have stopped him for sure (if wanted) .
maybe if in lazy mood then he'd only win the decision after some late kd's.
moorer was not chinny.
jirov , 1st holyfield fight then for a lightheavy he'd have a great chin.
and great power. maybe his 'talent' was a bit lesser there becuase he'd have faced more mobile and fit fighters. but he would have been a bit faster if not more , also.his chin would have surely hold against johnson.
moorer could achieve whatever saad muhammad achieved and more.
he simply was bigger.
