Johnson by KO in the mid rounds. He was always more impressive to me than Moorer.

that is because you have never seen johnson above 175 .
if he tried it he'd be a tomato can at 201+.

think of what u wrote u idiot :
jirov was a cruiser , johnson a lightheavy.
8 stoppages is that tough ?
someone in the classic forum estimated that if langford was today he'd be like qawi , only with power. i saw 3 qawi fights and in one of them , against saad muhammad , he didn't finish him in a tua/jackson fashion , he wore him down.
and again : if marvin johnson is 1(1):1(1) against the leslie stewrt who's 0:1(1) against moorer.
saad had 4 stoppages till age 30.
johnson 5 till 33. neither tried cruiser , maybe saad for some low profile fights.
moorer has at least some credentials at 201+
and to this day less stoppage loses than each of them.
and he faced holyfield , tua , foreman , jirov !

if one (who is still idiot enough) considers one of either saad / johnson tougher than moorer then he must reason their lack of ability to last the distance with total lack of talent.
so : lack of talent or lack of chin - what is your explanation to the facts ?

Marvin's all out attack would have Michael looking for a place to hide. Moorer fights back for a few rounds. Then Johnson takes over as Moorer just wants to last the distance. Johnson UD.

I hate to say this, but you have no real boxing knowledge, do you? I suggest you let go of the statistics and start searching for the actual fights, because your reasoning is flawed.
Johnson and Saad Muhamed fought in a murderers row of Light Heavyweights. Johnson and Saad Muhamed was very tough. Actually, all of the top 10 guys were tough back then. Nothing was given to you, you had to earn it. Johnson was one of my favorite fighters. He wasn't as physically talented as most of the top LH's back then, but his relentless pressure helped him overachieve and compete with better fighters. Johnson was past his prime in the first Leslie Stewart fight and had nothing left by the time of the rematch.
In my opinion, Moorer would had the potential to be a better Light Heavyweight than Johnson or Muhamed. He definately had better speed and boxing ability than Johnson, and probably better power, too, but he didn't stay there long enough to prove he was the goods at LH. I believe he was, though.
His best weight probably would have been at Cruiserweight, but there was no money there, so Moorer never made a pit stop here. He ate his way up to Heavyweight.
At Heavyweight, he was not in the best shape, and chinny. Even so, he was very good. He was life and death with guys like Bert Cooper and Alex Stewart, though, so anybody who could punch was a threat to him. There were several fights where Michael looked like he wanted to quit(the Cooper fight and the 2nd Holyfield fight come to mind).
I don't think Moorer is overrated at LH because he was very good even back then and was a monster of a heavyweight. Johnson was a beast in his own right, but never looked as dominating as Moorer. I would go with Moorer by late stoppage because Michael was the better all-around fighter. Even though I think Moorer was the better fighter, I still think Johnson was much than Moorer.

Johnson is by far the more relevant LH historically, and it's entirely possible that he could blitz the typically slow-starting Moorer and score an early stoppage. But he did have a tendency to eat a lot of punches on the way in, often slugged it out even when badly hurt, rather than trying to survive and showed a tendency to fade a bit down the stretch in some fights (admittedly against top-flight opposition).

So, I think Moorer survives a few shaky moments, loses a bunch of the early rounds (let's say five of the first six), but then catches Johnson with something big in round seven and stuns him badly near the end of the round. Johnson is still a bit buzzed coming out for the eighth, but decides to plow forward. Bad move, as Moorer cacthes him with a nasty right hook that dumps him, and then batters him along the ropes until such time as the official stops the fight.

Moorer TKO 8. too bad...I prefer Marvin and think he could have done some damage in the tournament with a different draw.
