Everyone's going to see this as a shut out for Conteh i reckon. Not for me, Conteh wins the rounds but they're so enduring and competetive. Conteh is the better man at the end of the day and i see him winning, but he's given plenty of trouble. Johnson was a warrior and a southpaw one at that, who jabbed. Conteh would lose some early rounds then the war would ensue, which he wins.
I see Johnson coming out fast as he always did, but finding it hard to solve the puzzle of Conteh's jab and dictating of range. As Johnson settles into more of a rhythm I see him hurting Conteh around the fifth, but Conteh had a lovely left hook and I think he would be able to hold his own in close, he was very strong himself. As the fight goes on I see Conteh's jab and upper-body movement allowing him to get in and out of range and land with increasingly harder blows. Johnson would still be game, but Conteh throws his right hand late on and takes Johnson out Conteh TKO 13. When Conteh dug the right hand in it had a lot of power, and it seemed to me he gambled with it late on in fights rather than injuring it early.
Yeah I see the same as flea for the most part...Johnson is hardgoing for Conteh early but down the track the greater skills and physical talent of John take their toll. Very confident of a Conteh stoppage later on.
teeto i do see conteh winning a clear ud but by no means easy ,conteh would certainly know he had been in a very hard fight but would win enough rounds to take a clear ud
He said that. He said it wouldn't be easy. To be fair, Marvin Johnson really isn't an easy nights work for anyone. Whilst his chin was not iron, he could take a beating before he went down, he was a pitbull of a southpaw, and threw punches from funny angles. However, he CAN be got to, and I wouldn't favour over too many 'Greats'. But I think he'd beat the **** out of say, Hearns at 175 or, for a more modern example, Chad Dawson.
Conteh tough but clear ud. I think he'd be particularly successfull with the left jab. (He seemed to have great success with it against Finnegan if you think thats a valid comparison) I can see Marvin slinging over some left hands and hurting Conteh a couple of times but Johns powers of recovery were allways good. **** me the 70's and early 80's were a tough time to be a LH. If RJJ were around at the time he'd be praying for a SM division to be formed.
Conteh at his best,after quite a battletakes this one over 15 rounds. John's jab would dictate matters. Johnson would have his moments,but I can't see him beating Conteh.
I hink Johns Versatility and Venom thats this, he will matador Marvin at Range, but has the Fast Firepower to keep Morvin respectful, John beat Marvin in the Ams and would feel confident he has maintained the upper hand in the pro's, Conteh had no stamina worries under task master Francis so will be able to Maintain the winning formula even in the face of Marv's quick pace, Conteh on points. or late stoppage if he cuts up Marv.
