175 lb Tournament!

    Now, my tournament for the Light-Heavys has started, as the LW and MW tournaments are now finished.

    The people involved are only people we have 'sufficient footage' of. Even though there isn't a huge amount of Light-Heavy Ezzard Charles and others, we have enough of a gauge of these guys. Hence why Harry Greb isn't included.


    So the bracketing is as follows;

    Bernard Hopkins vs Willie Pastrano
    Eddie Mustafa vs John Conteh
    Harold Johnson vs Matthew Saad
    Mate Parlov vs Victor Galindez
    Marvin Johnson vs Michael Moorer
    Glen Johnson vs Joey Maxim
    Georges Carpentier vs Antonio Tarver
    Dick Tiger vs Roy Jones
    Mike Spinks vs Gene Tunney
    Tommy Loughran vs Bob Foster
    Dwight Qawi vs Jose Torres
    Tommy Hearns vs Jimmy Bivins
    Virgil Hill vs Floyd Patterson
    Donny Lalonde vs Chad Dawson
    Archie Moore vs Dariusz Michalczewski



    Doing to the advice of Pater, CHAD DAWSON gets a shout, in an unbelievable turn of events a current undefeated fighter gets a Wild Card slot against Donny Lalonde.

    He's not getting anywhere, but should still provide some debate in the latest series of tournaments that have been frequently surprising and dare I say it, controversial!

    Yeah, with fighters that have already been picked out of the hat. As you can see a lot of the matches are already forumulated but in order for it all to add up and eventually progress to quarter/semi finals and a final I'm in need of four more fighters.

    If I've done the maths right, which I probably haven't :think

    You could sort of betray your own rules and throw in some of the greats who haven't been on film (or much) like Harry Greb, Kid Norfolk, John Henry Lewis and Maxie Rosenbloom. And perhaps Jimmy Bivins deserves a spot instead of... I don't know, you decide :good

    If you don't want to do that then we can think of some more.

    poor Tommy Hearns gets Bivins!

    Three more to go (can anyone confirm whether this would be the correct number of matches? I.e will this lead to four quarter finals and not leave anyone needing an opponent? My brain genuinely hurts when I try to do any kind of 'mathematics' :good

    Yeah it's right, you got sixteen matches, out of which will come eight. Of those, eight fighters will box four bouts for the quarter final. Then two, then the final.

    See that was easy. God knows why I don't just use common sense sometimes, my brain is scrambled from the effects of too many:rasta:lol:

    just need three more viable opponent, want to stay with people we have a decent amount of footage of. Any more suggestions? I started clutching at straws when I put Tarver in:lol:
