Heres my list 1. lewis 2. holyman 3. tyson 4. bowe 5. Dougie 6. moorer 7. foreman 8. bruno 9.mccall 10.ike 11. byrd 12. Tua 13. holmes 14 Morrison 15. briggs 16. mercer 17. vitali 18. akinwande 19. golota 20. hide edit - lets make it 20
Briggs too high, the only one 'win' over ranked opponent in 90s (of total TWO in his career) was 'win' over 49 y.o. Foreman which Foreman clearly won. Henry Akinwande deserves to be in top-20. Shulz too, he was better than Briggs as was shown in their fights bs Foreman and Botha.
true, i made some adjustments on briggs. #not sure about Axel though. henry yeh you have something there Biggie.
I wouldn't have Byrd in a Top-20 HWs for the '90s. He had a fleeting glimpse of the Ring Top-10 before being ejected out of it by Ibeabuchi. Likewise, I'd question V. Klitschko's presence there, too. Both VK and Byrd came into their own during the '00s.
Combination of head to head and significance overall in that era . 1. Lewis 2. Holyfield 3. Bowe 4. Tyson 5. Morrison 6. Foreman 7. Ruddock 8. Golota 9. Ike 10. Mercer 11. Tua 12. Moorer 13. Bruno 14. McCall 15. Holmes 16. Byrd 17. Briggs 18. Grant 19. Donald 20. Butterbean
You still listed 19 names. I would say Witherspoon could make it. A lot of talent in this decade. http://boxrec.com/media/index.php/The_Ring_Magazine%27s_Annual_Ratings:_Heavyweight--1990s
He probably doesn't deserve the Number-5 slot but, he had a reasonable 5/6 years in the '90s. Disasters against Mercer and particularly Bentt were perhaps balanced by wins over Tillis, Thomas, Williams, Foreman and Ruddock. Not too bad, really.
The Ring only rated him once in their annual top 10 (and that was at number 8) during his entire career. Tillis, Thomas, Williams (who had him down twice) and Ruddock were all non-entities. His best wins were a Foreman he could run away from all night and Joe Hipp who broke his jaw. He is one who has become much better since he retired.
