And STILL not a win over an ATG in their prime - how does that happen?

How do you have 47 odd fights side like June 1996 and STILL not have a win over an ATG in their prime?

1996 was a HELL of a long time ago.

So that's the nineties, the noughts and now the teens and STILL no win over an ATG in their prime - who has Floyd been fighting all this time? I mean he's had nearly FIFTY F*CKING FIGHTS for crying out loud!

Put it this way: Tupac was 25 years old when May turned pro. If he was still around today he'd be FOURTY FOUR YEARS OLD! Does that out it into perspective how long ago that is? Oscar was 23, he is now FORTY TWO years old!

Has there ever been a NINETEEN YEAR PRO that hasn't has=d a win over an ATG in their prime like May?

Can you name the ATG in his prime, that he was supposed to fight?

Be specific. Don't just name somebody. Say "during this year summer/fall" X match could have been made with "this ATG."

Perhaps my standards for what qualifies as "ATG" is higher than yours. I'm curious to see your list.

is this the new **** you guys are clinging to?

edit: also, let's not forget that there's a case that these ATGs dodged Floyd

There are not a whole lot of prime ATG's in boxing. From 130-135 there were no other great fighters during Floyd's reign there. Flat out, nobody from Floyd's weight class was a prime ATG.

Barrera, Morales, Pacquiao, Marquez were down in the featherweight divisions. Jones and Hopkins were in the higher weight classes.

I would have loved to see Floyd a natural featherweight during the early 2000s.

It's not the 80s anymore. People are trippin. Exactly right. People act like ATG fighters are just everywhere. It really doesn't make sense when you think about it.

Have they ever considered, it's hard to fight the prime ATG, when you ARE the prime ATG? Floyd has had to look out of his weight class for challenges. Same goes for Pacquiao.

Larry Holmes didn't fight an ATG until his 49th fight. Unless you consider the version of Ali that he fought an ATG?

Yo Tin. How would you see a prime Barrera/Morales/Marq doing against Floyd at 130?

umm, I don't really know who all those atg fighters that were prime in his weight classes. I don't know a single atg prime fighter pag cotto or odh beat.

ummm, you could say this exact thing about most atg's. easily more have not than had. atg fighters don't grow on trees..

Floyd asked for both odh and ssm when they were close to prime, he tried for pac when he was in his prime. its funny how its only his fault, the one that tried to make the fights is the one you blame ? brilliant, you sound brilliant

Mayweather hasn't fought anybody as good as those guys. He could be totally overwhelmed by those top level guys. Or he could beat them all. It's an unknown variable.

If I had to guess I would say he beats Barrera by wide decision. He could stop Marquez if he hurts him and starts unleashing the combos. I don't see Marquez outboxing him. Mayweather was too good.

As for Morales it's possible that Mayweather is too quick and slick. Or Mayweather may not have enough power and Morales walks through his punches and actually starts to hurt Mayweather and possibly drop him.
