Call me crazy, but if there's one 190 pound fighter (190 on fight night) I'd favor over Wilder, it's the best 187-190 lbs version of Holyfield. Skill wise, Holyfield is superior and he likely still had the chin to take a Wilder bomb, go down and get up. Wilder didn't throw combinations.
I don't favour Wilder against many great fighters who are cruisers or heavies, but more than 95% of Classic, I just admit that when a tall, lanky guy with Shavers-like power and good speed is just counting on wailing away and scoring the big one, and he's all over the place, it can jinx and level pretty much anyone, if you assume he loses. I wouldn't want to be in with a guy doing what Wilder does, even with Holy's skill and durability. Holy's been clocked hard by a lot of guys and hurt, so wtf knows, but he's so sophisticated in his movement and timing and combos that I don't like Wilder's chances. Holy has been known to fight down to a guy's level and be in a dog fight and Wilder is a dog, so there is that. But Wilder had to have his power bail him out late against Szpilka, if I remember correctly and not bothering to Google it. Unlike Holy, Wilder rarely ever even used all his skills or discipline throughout a fight, let alone if he did would they be be enough to make his size the most likely advantage he has over Holyfield. Probably his biggest advantage, after pure stupid power is that Holyfield WOULD fight down to him and give him chances he didn't need to give.
But when Holyfield fought down to an opponents level, he could usually turn on some power just to let them know.. (Rahman and Mercer included)
Holy would beat the ever living sh!t outta Wilder regardless of what weight he comes in. Beyonce plain and simple cannot fight a lick.
I don't think he's that bad. He's athletic and powerful. Although he does want when it comes to the skills department. He has a hard right hand that could be one of the hardest shots seen in heavyweight boxing.
He's a dangerous guy, can't take that away from him. He's got that Ruddock quality about him, you really shouldn't relax against him.
