    • only one nation competed (85% of other competitions were)
    • bantamweight,flyweight,middleweight had only 2 competitors each
    • all these men fought in 2 different division in 2 days: oliver kirk , goerge finnegan, harry spanjer, charles mayer and jack egen* (all but egen winning a medal).
    • jack egen was not his real name but frank joseph floyd....thus becoming disqualified.
    • peter sturholdt won a bronze medal....losing 3 times in total
    • oliver kirk won 2 gold medals.
    • heavyweight was anything over 158 pounds
    • joseph lydon won a bronze in boxing but also won a silver medal in football(soccer)
    • A well-known local boxer, carroll burton, entered the tournament and won the match against pete sturholdt. However, it was later discovered that the competitor was actually an impostor named james bollinger. bollinger was ejected from the competition

    Very amusing facts...

The St Louis Olympis of 1906 I believe. ahd the Marathon debarcle. The winner was disqualified, having taken a tram car 1/4 of the race distance..

The second place getter was elevated to WINNER status.. only to be disqualified, having been found out for stealing fruit from a vender enroute to the finish line.
