Greb lost to George Chip who in his next fight lost a title shot at Les Darcy. What chance does Harry have at toppling Darcy had Les not passed away and they had met in 1917?
Darcy would have had a great chance of winning. Greb was pretty green at this stage of his career and Darcy was considered to be a phenomenal talent. Damn shame he died so young he could have been one of the all time greats.
You would have a hard time finding anyone who would have picked Harry to beat Les...who was very well respected and in the prime of his career. Harry was relatively unknown and inexperienced but at the same time might have been a bit of an unrealized talent. When I say he might have been, he was...maybe he had the goods to beat Les even at that stage but just didnt have the record to suggest it yet. He would go on a very good run in the 1917..only dropping close decisions to very good and vastly more experienced fighters...but for the most part beating fighters of that ilk. If I was around in the day though I wouldnt have been betting against Greb.
