Both at the peak of their powers. Could Dempsey get to Ali and wipe him out or would Ali decisively out box and befuddle Dempsey?

Something along the lines of what Ali did do London. A total domination and befuddlement. Apples and oranges.

In 1966, B+ grade George Chuvalo "got to Ali", and 1919 Jack Dempsey was much faster afoot than Chuvalo, and could hit, much harder, including Ali's nemesis the "left hook". Probably would be a Dempsey TKO (by today's rules), or an Ali UD 15 rd decision.

Prime Dempsey had very fast feet. He would give Ali a serious fight.

If they were closer in weight it would make it interesting. Ali would dance and jab and would nullify Dempsey in close with his clinch and strength advantage, Dempsey would tire and Ali would drop him any time after 8 for a ref stoppage imo.

I don't think so. Dempsey would have to take him out early, and the chances of that happening are pretty slim. Dempsey is much more dangerous in short bursts than Frazier and has far better head movement and offensive footwork, but he's nowhere near the sustained pressure fighter Frazier is.
    Ali by wide UD.

An admittedly generic analysis, but I don't see how much more could be said.

Edit: Although he wouldn't do nearly as well against Ali as Frazier, I've got a strong hunch he'd flatten Frazier even sooner and more severely than Foreman did.

I realize that Ali's twisting punches often caused cuts, but does anyone know definitely that Dempsey
was ever seriously cut in a bout?

Edge it to Ali only because he consistently beat the top fighters even when people thought he wouldn't. Now way does Dempsey knock out '67 Ali and Ali can't stop Dempsey either. Not on cuts or anything.

    55/45 Ali by UD

Who doesn't look fast in contrast to an old, disinterested semi retired Willard?

Ali by whatever he wants. Likely a stoppage round 8

Dempsey isn't going to outbox Ali. Ali's jab and chin wins this

Head to head, where would an old, retired Willard rank on Ali's list of greatest victims?

Would he make the top 10?
