Willard might have a better chance than people think. He had a height and reach advantage, and could hit like a ton of bricks. If he fought smart, and countered Foreman, he could cause him serious problems.
Foreman had no fear of giants...it was the smaller, defensively clever types that had the best chance of bamboozling and beating him.
Willard would likely get rescued under civilised rules, modern rules, in his own time, things might get rather freaky I dunno.
Well I wouldn't pick him. But people raise question marks over Foreman's stamina regularly. I'm not convinced that Foreman has the co-ordination to heavy-bag Willard in the way Dempsey did. So things might get interesting. However, Foreman had a fine jab.
Where is the proof that he could hit like a ton of bricks? Where is the proof that he used his height and reach advantage effectively in the ring? Where is your proof willard ever fought smart? When did willard ever counter? Did you take into consideration this version of willard hadn't fought in 3 years and was in horrendous shape going up against a peak foreman?
I think willards chin wasn't proven at the top level. The only two punchers he fought, knocked him out. I think willards chin may have been vulnerable against any puncher. Foreman was certainly no ordinary puncher
