    A 190s lbs Froch would eat Dempsey alive, yes. No comparison in technique, power speed, ring intelligence and reflexes.

    Here's Dempsey showing off his limited classic era skills, now tell me how refined, powerful and scary does he look?

    C-level HWs guys of today like Chisora or Teper would destroy Dempsey.

    :lol::patsch

    I'm not one of those guys who view guys like Dempsey in a mythical god-like way, but come on... He destroys those clowns. Dempsey brings everything Chisora brought but with power. As for Teper he's a crude oaf.

    HWs today can barely go 12 freaking rounds without having to hug the living turd out of each other to stop themselves from falling over from exhaustion.. I'm supposed to believe todays fighters are superior?

    Yea well I don't subscribe that boxing is the *ONLY* discipline (not even talking about sport here but really any type of performance) where there was been no measurable improvement in 100 years. Today's B level spinters destroy Jesse Owens. Today's B level Olympic weight lifters clown 1920s elite weight lifters. Today's chess players destroy 1920s chess players -- a mental game that's 1000 years old using brains that are genetically unchanged in 100,000 years.

    Its funny I have defend Wilder here, I'm not even a Wilder fan at all. But arguing Dempsey beats Wilder because he beat some other crude classic era big guy lacks basic logic. The chess equivalent would be: Aljechin would beat Anand (current top player) because he beat Lasker back in 1920? :rofl So yea its quite obvious that a random top 25 HW will pretty much walk through any elite boxer from 100 years ago. It's a given.

    P.S. Can't wait for the standard replies "Comparing boxing to chess" :patsch and "Comparing boxing to sprinting" :patsch So predictable :rofl

    And I'm supposed to believe boxing is the only discipline include any sport, arts and performance that had ZERO measurable progress. Out of 1,000 human performance related activities we can measure, 999 have improved in the last 100 years. World records have been increased, Guinness book of records entries have been improved. Average IQ is up 25 points in 100 years in industrial countries for Christ's sake -- same brain and all. But boxing has been stagnant, even regressed? Seriously, you'll have to believe in creation or even the tooth fairy to subscribe to that theory.

    Wilder destroys Louis, Dempsey, Tunney, Schmeling, Willard and Baer. If you put them in a time machine, they would basically be his sparring partners today. Amateurish ones, too.

    When was the last time a fat, 45 year old sprinter won Olympic gold?

    Because the equivalent of that happened in boxing.

    Also love how people are using athletics as an example of superior modern day athletes, specifically Jesse Owens, but don't mention the equipment that's available to modern day sprinters.

    A guy like Bolt starts from blocks and runs on a track that's fabricated to allow him to travel as fast as humanly possible. Owens ran on cinder and literally dug up his own starting block in the ground.

    The improvements in chess, sprinting, weight lifting can be measured. The same can't be said about boxing so it's going to be open for debate.

    One thing is certain. You can't honestly tell me that we're in the best boxing era from a talent perspective.

    Frankly I think Willard is awful as a boxer. The footage I have seen of him doesn't impress me in the least. However, I mentioned Willard because if there's one thing that hasn't changed, is the quality of a boxer's chin. Willard had a good set of whiskers on him, and he weighed 240lb. The point is that when Dempsey landed his power shots he shook Willard down to his boots and dropped him. So, Wilder, who has a suspect chin already and is lighter than big Jess, will without doubt feel Dempsey's shots.

    Point 2: Dempsey had some quick and light feet. I have no doubt either that he can get into range past Wilder's jab. Wilder is hardly a defensive specialist, and his best use of the jab was against fairly static targets like Arreola and Stiverne. Dempsey is much more elusive and nimble.

    Point 3: Dempsey had faster hands than Wilder, and Wilder's long levers aren't going to be much good up close where Dempsey would unload from. His flapping technique is going to see Jack's shorter punches land straight down the pipe and the I'd fully expect the results to be shattering.
