1927 Jack Dempsey vs Paulino Uzcudun

Uz had a poor defense. However he was very durable. Schmeling chopped him up but certainly Schmeling was not the puncher as was Dempsey.

Remember Sharkey who fought Dempsey (in 27), Schmeling and Louis. "I never thought anyone could hit that hard". Sharkey also thought Dempsey hit harder than Joe Louis. Louis koed Uz with one straight right hand albeit an older Uz.

Again there is no chance he takes 1927 Dempsey's punches for 12 or 15 rounds. Dempsey would be all over Uz hitting him with very lethal punches from the first seconds of the opening bell.

Arcel who trained Max Baer stated when asked if Baer hit as hard as Dempsey with his right hand...."Not close"

 

Film of his fights show he was not the open target you state. Schmeling was 29 and 30 when he fought Paulino, bang in his prime. Louis ko'd a 36 years old Uzcudun who hadn't won a fight in 2.5years and hadn't been ranked for 7!
You don't have to sell me on Dempsey.

I decided to bump this thread because I can't stand Perry's posts about Paulino's "poor" defense. I've seen all Uzcudun fights available on YT and he didn't look bad defensively at all. He used crouch and crab defense well and had decent reflex.

 

Do you think 1927 Dempsey has enough in him to win this one?

 

We know Paulino had an iron chin but did he have an iron set of balls? Because that was the only way Dempsey beat Sharkey...

It wasnt his chin that Sharkey was clutching while he was rolling around on the mat being counted out…. but you know that even if your hero worship wont let you admit it.

The name Dempsey or Greb in a thread is guaranteed clickbait to Klompton.
If it's Dempsey he rushes forward to **** on him.
If it's Greb he rushes forward in case somebody has said something negative about him.

As for Dempsey, yeah, I enjoy tweaking the nose of pathetic morons who view him akin to Paul Bunyon and dont actually know **** about him beyond what theyve read in Ring Magazine.
