How do you see these match ups between the class of Febuary '47 and April '87** going? Joe Louis v Micheal Spinks Gus Lesnevich v Chalres Williams * Rocky Graziano v Thomas Hearns * Sugar Ray Robinson v Jorge Vaca Ike Williams v Julio Cesar Chavez * Willy Pep v Antonio Esparragoza Manuel Ortiz v Miguel Lora * Jackie Patterson v Sot Chitalada This thread was actually just going to be about Louis-Tyson, but disguised, I messed up the time line, but I think i'll leave it. Louis-Spinks is certainly fascinating and there are other stand out matches like Williams-Chavez & Graziano-Hearns, these would be blockbusters. Feel free to make one pick of have a stab at all 8, how do you think these champs, ruling 40 years apart, would match up. Amsterdam if you make picks please use your era-era system rather than KO1 system * These are the #1 contenders as no champ was crowned at that time. ** MDWC is a smart arse.

I think I agree with all of these with hearns graziano & chavez williams being the hardest to choose from. Louis & SRR win by ko in these fights, no question.
Same here, actually. I had Chavez by late stoppage but I wouldn't be enitely confident in laying down any moola on that one. Williams' dymamite power would keep him in with a shout.
For sure, and Williams also has some serious inside ability as well as subtle boxing skill. Fantastic match.
April 47 vs November 87? Tell me why first.* * I've a feeling it's to favour old timers by the way. :hey

Nice addition to the first post. Although it appears more April 47-November 87. The reason I orignally noticed as that Williams* was not champ in Feb 47- and Vaca wasn't champ till October 87.
I just failed to look at the date for the second list I popped into. Think the old timers dominate this one do you? What's the difference between this and the Feb v Feb ratings?
