Walcott is obviously a higher rated heavyweight and for good reason. But prime Michael Dokes had very fast hands, decent power, greater size and the ability to go fifteen rounds. Walcott could also drop a loss here and there to a lesser opponent. I think this could be close

I rate Dokes higher. And the 1982 version of Dokes would lay waste to Walcott.

Walcott by decision for me, it's even possible he scores a late fight KO.

Almost every fight Walcott had was a hard fight, especially the full one third in which he was defeated. Now put him in against a hyper skilled, modern sized heavy with the fastest hands this side of Ali... and it's going to be an easy night?

    Dokes KO8.

The eye roll is intense on this one. Walcott is breaking that glass jaw. He went against Louis and prob won and his hands were much faster and he was stronger. He prob went against several elite fighters w faster hands. You make no sense. You know his record comes with an odd exception. The beginning of his career is nothing like his prime. Same with other men like Young but you’d never mention that as he didn’t fight an Italian.

Similar level fighters,,I have Walcott as the favorite here but a prime focused Dokes is well capable of beating him..

Old Joe's hands were not faster than Dokes. Pretty much no one's hands in the history of the division have been as fast save Ali.

I have heard the excuses regarding Walcott's record, that the Great Depression landed firmly and solely on his shoulders but none of his apparently well-to-do opponents, that despite no anomalies in his recorded fight weights he was constantly starving, that despite going 11-9 over his last 20 fights he was supposedly better than when he maintained the same win-loss percentage over his first 50 bouts, that despite a dozen of more noted contemporary boxings writers labeling him as a "journeyman", using that exact term, he was in fact a generational talent... yes, i have heard it all.

    Dokes KO8.

11-9…he wasn’t losing to Paul Philips. 7 of those 9 were to HOF fighters. He avenged ones to Elmer Ray, Joey Maxim and Ezzard Charles. It’s arguable he actually won the first Louis fight as well. Dokes always failed when facing better competition…always. Zero reason he wins here. I’d also say Charles and Harold Johnson and Louis are just as quick as Dokes and far better boxers.
