Clay, who would become Muhammad Ali, convincingly stopped Moore in their 1962 fight . But Moore was almost 50 years old and very shopworn from over 220 fights. I don't think prime Moore could beat any version of Ali from 64-75, but could prime Moore beat the 62-63 version of Ali?
Probably not. Cassius Clay (Muhammad Ali ) had way too much speed, stamina, footwork reflexes, and timing in 1962.
Prime Moore was a tough customer and Cassius Clay wasn't the finished product that Muhammad Ali was. He did barely scrape by Doug Jones and Henry Cooper. He was noticeably better against Liston in 1964. Also, between 62 and 64 he grew physically. He was as light as 190 something during the 1960-63 era. He was 210 I believe when he fought Liston in 64. And he never weighed below 200 ever again in his career, mostly being 210-220. Keep in mind, Ali was a big heavyweight by the standards of the day at 6'3 210-215 in his prime and dwarfed much of his opposition. In reality, he was as big as Sonny Liston, they were just built differently.
Posters keep bringing up Henry Cooper in June 1963, the knockdown was legit but it was more of a case of an overconfident youth as with the March 1963 bout with Doug Jones.
Moore from 1951 would most likely stop Ali from 1962. Moore was a very dominant and hungry fighter in 1951 while Ali was very green in 1962.
Archie probably gains the advnantage early on due to his intellect, but Clay's natural abilities would win the day eventually
How I see it. The 1951 incarnation of Archie gives the young Cassius Clay a more competitve fight though.
Are you having a laugh mate? One of the most juvenile, agenda-driven, all around terrible posters I’ve ever seen. I can name 5 posters off the top of my head that can’t stand the guy.
