From Dink Carroll, “Greatest, Pound for Pound,” The Gazette, Sept. 12, 1951: “Benny Leonard never boxed Joe Gans and never saw him fight but he called Gans the “greatest, pound for pound” in boxing history. “I was lucky enough to buy motion picture reels of a few of his fights,” Benny explained. “I’ve run them over and over and over again and every time I see things I didn’t see before. He was the marvel of the ring.”
