Pick em at best otherwise I lean to Pastrano. Valdes was one dimensional and slow and thats poison against a guy as fast and tricky as Pastrano.

Willie had an excellent chin as well...a lightning fast left jab, clever as hell, strong, athletic legs that allowed him to move all night long...he'd outpoint the big Cuban gazoo easily.

Easily? archie Moore ezzard charles didn't have an easy time with valdes but pastrano does? He lost to roy Harris joe Erskine brian london chic calderwood Jessie bowdry Wayne Thornton in his prime. He was not unbeatable

Also in regards to his excellent chin, Willies chin was never tested against a skilled 215lb puncher, only against light heavyweights

And he would not rematch Charles would he? I wonder why?

Charles took Valdes lightly and paid the price. That's all it was. Nino would not rematch him. Charles was red hot after that.

Ninos prime came either side of losing to Archie Moore who Charles beat. Then he lost to Satterfeild who Charles beat. Nino had already lost to Gilliam who Charles beat. In fact Charles fought Gillium right after he beat Nino and beat him. Everything about Nino Valdes beating Charles points to a dip in form, an underestimation of opposition on the part of Charles.

At the time Charles lost to Valdes ezzard held wins over each heavyweight who ever beat him. Valdes didn't rematch him. Charles beat Layne in a rematch and he beat Elmer Ray in a rematch. Even AFTER losing to Marciano Charles beat guys in a rematch who beat him past his prime like Toxie Hall and big John Holman who in size was the equivalent of Valdes.

There really isn't much evidence Valdes could have won a rematch with Charles is there?
