1959 Sonny Liston vs 1976 Ken Norton, 12 rounds. This version of Liston stopped hard hitting Cleveland Big Cat Williams, Liston had immense power in his dukes and was intimidating. This version of Ken Norton had suffered a KO 2 at the hands of George Foreman on March 26 1974 and went 15 rounds with Muhammad Ali. Who wins and why?

    Liston.

4 to 6 rounds. Norton is not backing this guy up. Big left hook after the jab and Kenny goes. Norton's habit of bending down to get inside has him eating right uppercuts and he won't handle that punch from this guy very well. So he would fight as a straight up boxer and that jab would lead to his demise.

1959 Sonny Liston vs. 1976 Ken Norton, one round, two maybe if Sonny has trouble getting warmed up.

Liston's technical brawler style is a good match for Norton, Kenny probably gets caught similarly to Foreman early on

Muscles and a big physique does not matter here for Ken Norton who is kayoed again by a big puncher.

Some posters say this would be like Foreman vs Norton. But I think Sonny would prefer to feel his way in with Ken. So it may take a little longer but once Sonny lands a big punch Ken freezes and Sonny opens up and there Ken is. Down on the canvas that is. But Sonny would have to get through that cross armed defence. He does eventually but it could take him a bit longer than George.

Sonny could get past that defense, Liston's aggressiveness would have Ken Norton off balance until the end by round 5, when his vaunted left hook lands on Norton's jaw. What did Muhammad Ali once say about Norton? I Took A Nobody And Created A Monster.

I agree with you that Sonny gets past that defence but I think he’d in a rush. He’d use his jab a lot more than George. And don’t forget George like to corner guys by using the old walk down. Sonny would work off his jab which may take just a wee bit longer. Only a bit. As for Ali creating a monster, that same monster got a good win I’ve Quarry and didn’t do too bad against Young and Holmes. Agreed with you that Sonny beats him by knockout but it may last longer than most think.

Yeah Lone Star but Jerry Quarry in 1975 was at the end of a long career that began in 1965, Quarry in his prime had faced Eddie Machen, Jimmy Ellis, Floyd Patterson, Mac Foster, George Chuvalo, Earnie Shavers, Ron Lyle, Joe Frazier and Muhammad Ali. Anybody can beat an old man who is washed up just like people will give Cooney and Shavers credit for knocking out Norton.

Agreed. One thing for sure. Mr Liston wins. And there most certainly won’t be any need for the judges scorecards.
