Combination punching is a huge factor that got left out. Also footspeed.

Where is size and weight? Both huge W advantages. p4p Ali has it, but that is not the point, nor does it guarantee anything. The biggest advantage that Ali has that you left off is charisma. The charisma that made him a global superstar as much as his fight skills. And there is no 'light year' advantages here. Wlad's skills are what have kept him on top for a whole decade.

    Hiya pal,

I put down shot selection when I meant to put combination punching.

Foot speed I classed as all round footwork.

    Feel free to add more.

He did get caught by Henry, and that's a fair point. But I think he underestimated him, and he was only young then.

We're talking about a 1967 peak version of Ali.

He could take a punch. He got really fast after Frazier had dropped him, and he took some good shots from Foreman etc in the 70's.

Would Wlad have been able to land clean? I don't think so. I think Ali's movement would have been far too much for him.

Do you think the '67 Ali would stand there like the big dope Wach? And Ali COULD get a stoppage based on wearing Wlad down, but a decision victory is most likely. Either way he wins.

If anything he gave Wlad too much credit. Ali's chin is MUCH better than Wlad's. You dumb joke. Ali took everything Foreman had to give, which is a hell of a lot more punishment than Wlad could dish out. He took Shaver's best shots, Lyle's, Williams and Liston's. Even in his old age, half paralyzed by Parkinson's he stood and took everything Holmes and Berbick could give him.

Why are you even on a boxing board? You clearly care nothing about boxing and DKSAB.

oops I read durability as chin. In any case, Wlad shoots his slow jab, never so much as brushes Ali's hair with it. Ali in and out for about 8 rounds, Wlad is ready and begging to go in the 9th when Ali starts putting them together. Just like Ron Lyle, Ali is waving in the ref so he doesn't have to kill this man.

Today is one of the two worst era's ever and the worst in modern times (post 1970). Contenders don't fight one another and are fat, unskilled and lack proper stamina. They have little defense and very seldom go to the body.

Care to give me that link from anyone in Vitaly's camp complaining a thumb caused his cut against Lewis?

Would you like to talk about the skills of today's heavyweight contenders? How about how they very seldom fight each other?
