Hey Red! Long time no talk. Great thread!! This is why I suggested a 'tweenie' Forum for boxers plying their skills 1980- thru the 90's (maybe a semi-classic Forum of sorts). I and my boxing buds were all over this tourney! Made plans to get together and watch every s c r a p.
We talked about it in the hallways in high school for pete's sake. What a tourney. Still want to drop by and visit you and your wife on the way to Vero Beach. Lot's of work issues, etc. but, hopefully, can make some plans in the not so distant future. Keep these threads a-comin' good bud!

Is every 'Classic poster' now a Gen-X'er? I'm surprised no comments on Red's great videos on this. This was major at the time! Weigh in old timers, jeez. Weren't you all waiting for the next bout throughout the Tourney?

Jimmy Ellis was very impressive in this tournament. For a guy who'd been a middleweight a few fights earlier especially.

The issue with this tournament was that Ali was still worlds hwt champion. He would remain hwt champion until he "retired" in 1970.

Great footage! Wish the heavyweights would do it again now with Wlad gone.
Quarry Patterson was razor close could of gone either way.
Ellis really did impress both he and quarry impressed. Good stuff
