Let's make this contest between the 1968 champion Jimmy Ellis who had just won the heavyweight elimination tourney vs the 1985 Michael Spinks of the first Holmes fight. We'll make this one for the heavyweight title over 15 rounds which both were capable of going. Their stats at these respective times are as follows:

    JIMMY ELLIS 1968

    Age - 28

    Height - 6'1"

    Weight - 198 lbs

    Reach - 76"

    Record to date - 27-5-0-12

    MICHAEL SPINKS 1985

    Age - 29

    Height - 6'2"

    Weight - 199 lbs

    Reach - 76"

    Record to date - 28-0-0-19

Both men fought in orthodox stance and were crafty boxers. Spinks was a bit more awkward while Ellis was a tad more traditional. Both were roughly right around the same size, close in age, and had began their careers below heavyweight. Neither were big hitters at heavyweight but Spinks might have had a little more snap to his shots, particularly his right hand. Michael had the one win over an aged Holmes by this point. Ellis was a tad more proven at heavy with wins over Patterson, Quarry, Bonavena and Martin.

    Who would you favor here?
