Dempsey at his absolute best vs a prime Frazier, who wins this one?

50/50 sometimes I favor Frazier, other times Dempsey. I literally can't decide rn though.

Dempsey is all wrong for Frazier, because he starts faster, and is a better finisher.

This is going to go to whoever gets stuck in first.

    "Is a better finisher"
Couldn't finish a punching bag in Willard. Couldn't stop a MW in Gibbons.
    Went 12 with Brennan.
Took 9 KDs to stop Firpo.

If we start comparing the fighters that they both stopped in the early rounds, it becomes very clear that Dempsey has the edge here.

After a couple close early rounds, Frazier beats down Jack and stops him over 7.

Frazier has a very serious stylistic problem here.

Notable wins inside the first round:

Dempsey - Fred Fulton, several past prime name fighters.

    Frazier - Nothing

Notable wins inside the first two rounds:

    Dempsey - Luis Firpo

    Frazier - Bob Foster

Notable wins inside the first three rounds:

Dempsey - Battlink Levinsky, Billy Miske

    Frazier - Nothing

Notable wins inside the first four rounds:

Dempsey - Gunboat Smith, Jess Willard, Georges Carpintier

    Frazier - George Chuvalo

    Conclusion:

Frazier had better have a plan for surviving those first four rounds!

Dempsey's wide punches are gonna leave him a sitting duck for the shorter punching, accurate counters of Frazier. Dempsey can take a good shot but he is gonna be cut to ribbons.
    Frazier TKO 4

    Are you kidding?

If you were stupid enough to come straight at Dempsey, he threw nearly everything on the inside!

In the Firpo fight, he only seems to have thrown one punch that traveled more than 18 inches!

It is Frazier whose style is not going to mesh up well here!

Take a look at the Willard fight. Tell me Dempsey's shots weren't wide. Frazier could box Dempsey if his corner chose that route.
Don't get me wrong Jack was the best of his time against those guys, the Willard's, Firpo, Brennan. They were slow and crude.
If took JD to the 1970s I don't think he does much better than Ron Stander. He may do worse because Stander at least had about 30lbs or so on Dempsey.
The speedy guys that were around in Frazier's day would of had a field day with Jack.
