Joshua enters the ring versus George of 1970 (Chuvalo and Boone Kirkman fight) instead of Usyk. What happens?
Yep. Ruiz was nowhere near the fighter nor puncher Foreman was, even in 1970. AJ might never fight again.
If Joshua boxes ever so carefully he might have a chance. But if he opens up early the way that he does with most of his opponents he likely gets tagged and against Foreman that’s lethal
Physically he is probably still as sharp as he can be at this age. Mentally, I've seen amateurs with stronger psyche.
Target practice for Foreman. The Chuvalo fight was possibly his best display of a heavy, straight, accurate jab. Fought more like a boxer puncher than a slugger keeping Chuvalo at mid range and setting up excellent combinations. He was patient, picked his shots well, and even used some lateral movement. Despite being a very physically powerful guy with a chin of granite, Chuvalo got manhandled once Foreman hurt him and had him in the corner. Joshua does not know how to fight tall and couldn't bully or impose his size on Ruiz or Usyk. He is stiff and does not move his head which makes it all the more easier for Foreman to land the telephone pole jab. When Foreman throws his thunderous body shots, Joshua will rapidly gas. Joshua isn't outboxing him and lacks the chin and confidence to have a slug fest like Lyle. Lately, Joshua only acts brave when he has someone badly hurt or the opponent is mentally weaker, otherwise he tries to fight on the back foot and throws his half assed pawing jab. I will say this for Joshua tho, he's a better inside fighter than people give him credit for. He can actually throw decent combinations on the inside and has a hell of an uppercut. I think the winner will go to whoever can dictate the pace and range. Joshua is no slouch in brute strength, but rarely forces his way in and might be out of his element attempting to do so. I think that would be his best route to victory because attempting to outjab Foreman would be suicide as he has neither the experience nor the technique to do this and would likely get nailed by jabs himself instead. The irony is he would do much better trying to get closer and wear Foreman out smothering him and landing short combinations downstairs and upstairs. I would favor Foreman 60/40 for now to stop Joshua within 5 rounds.
I doubt Joshua even sees round 3. He does not have the heart (or chin) to weather the early storm by Foreman.
Johua boxes from a safe distance and wins a UD. Yes, Foreman can hurt him if he lands, but he ain't got the speed nor the accuracy to trouble Joshua.
