1970s FOTY: What FOTYs would you dispute, why, and what fights would you choose over it?

    Back in the day, the term 'fight of the year' meant competitive action. And Ring mag followed that credo for awhile. Even in the 60s when even great 10 rounders like Joey Giardello v Henry Hank too center stage over a title fight meant they were following the roadmap correctly. But then they started veering off the map in the 70s when 'events' took precedence over action.

    1970 - I do agree that Ramos v Ramos should have taken it that year over Monzon v Benvenuti
    1973 - C'mon! That one always bugged me. A 2 round massacre as fight of the year? Ohba v Chionoi, Herrera v Martinez II and Herrera v Borkorsor were heads and tails above this.
    1977 - Foreman v Young couldn't hold a candle to Palomino v Muniz I.
    1978 - The first Ali-Spinks was decent but should have gone to Holmes v Norton
