Spinks wins a fairly easy decision or stops Young late.

Michael beat fast, slick guys at 175 regularly.

And Young, coming off the win over big, slow George and brimming with confidence, barely decisioned journeyman Jody Ballard in 1977. And he lost his next three.

If Ocasio could befuddle Young, Michael Spinks certainly would. Young would be the slower, less skilled fighter against Spinks.

    Michael TKO in 13.

Would Foreman vs Liston or Tyson vs Joe Louis be like watching paint dry??

Tubbs and Spinks were arguably better than those two and in fact, many will still say that they were better, but Tyson stopped them. Boxing math isn't always linear. Many swear up and down that prime Ali would stop prime Tyson in 10 rounds despite the fact that Floyd Patterson made it 12 rounds on his feet with prime Ali and Doug Jones lasted the distance with a near prime Ali.

Then you contradict yourself, so according to your own explanation there is no guarantee that jimmy youmg will be knocked out that fast

I actually like Spinks here, quite a bit. I'm somewhat suspect of his chin at Heavyweight but Young is one of the lightest hitting higher calibre heavyweights you will ever find so Spinks has nothing to worry about in that department.

Young however is quite quick and an extremely good skilled boxer. Spinks too is a fantastic boxer as he showed in fights where he needed to be. His herky jerky style and great strategic and corner advice (Eddie Futch) will make it hard for Young, an excellent counter puncher, to get into a winning rhythm. Spinks also has the better jab and will be using it extremely frequently.

Another important factor for me is the mongrel Spinks has in him and the fact that he is such a "winning" fighter. He's actually quite dirty in the ring and has the most effective set of elbows I've seen in modern boxing. He can be a real bully in there when the occasion arises. Jimmy by comparison was prone to a lot of close fights and his style was never a favorite of the judges.

I like Spinks by decision. In a match prone to chess like spells his jab, aggression and intent will win him the day.

    Interesting match truth be told.

Nothing is guaranteed in boxing....for all I know if Mercer and prime Ali were to fight, Mercer may pull a "Morrison" on Ali and leave him out cold in 5. The point is, due to Tyson's attributes, I see him stopping Young fairly quick but I don't guarantee it.

Close fight. I think this could be scored a draw by the judges
