This was Benitez's best weight, while Floyd also peaked at the weight in 05' against Gatti. So, you have a young, somewhat green Benitez going in against a peak Floyd. We know Benitez won't even bother training and preparing for the bout and that may cost him in this one. Tough one to call, Floyd has the superior speed while Benitez has the superior radar and knows how to use every inch of the ring to his advantage. Both fighters look so similar on film and it would be like fighting a mirror.
This one is it for lovers of technique. I can't pick a clear winner in this one. But in a series of 10 fights...5-5...or 6-4, either way.
I see it as a boring fight as well, or one for the connoisseur. Could get interesting though late in the fight if it's in the balance.
I can't see how Mayweather gets even close in this fight, out marshalled in all departments, what on earth can he do better than El Radar:bbb ZERO:smoke Now it all depends what version of the lazy "gifted one" shows up? 1 week/2 week/3 week's training max or the "Just got outer bed" model. Over 15 i would'nt be at all suprised if Wilfredo laid Floyd out. Good as Mayweather is he's a league below Benitez in every way:deal
Eeerm, no! Just been looking though and i've also got the Turpin-Cockell, Mitri, Humez, Cartier, van Dam, Angelo, Billy Brown and Jackie Keough fights and some others. Sorry for the threadjack
I'd love to see this kind of fight personally, just a personal taste/preference. Really hard to say though, not because i do rate Mayweather highly, but because he's never been in the ring with someone stylistically similar as a boxer, never mind as a defensive minded boxer. You really can't call it. There's no basis. All Mayweather's best opposition have been offensive minded outright. Zab Judah could box but always leaned towards trying to starch his man and arguably isn't on the level (well for overall effectiveness he clearly isn't).
This would be an intriguing battle of technicians without much to split them. I see Mayweathers superior stamina and speed giving him the edge in a close 1
