I would'nt call Benitez 'green' at this weight, sure he wasnt as experianced as he would become but I still think he was as good as he became later. And at Light Welterweight at least he did seem an avid trainer, despite popular rumours. I see some similarities but at LWW Benitez is so much more mobile and fluent IMO. Same here. I fixed your answer for you. I really like the sound of this match up. Two guys who skillsets I really admire and rate higher than most. Benitez for me is the 'better' technicain, he made guys miss then came right back and made them pay. He did at times try to get by on his defence but he always folowed up with them counters. He was also very fluid at LWW and tended to stay focussed behind his jab then countered what came back at him. Mayweather at this weight was starting to become more flat footed and lazy. He tended to pot shot but arguably his defence improved and he really was quick. I like Benitez to get off first behind his jab to hold the iniative throughout the fight, countering Mayweather when he pot shots and forcing Mayweather to put his punches together. I think with Benitez holding the iniative throughout he takes the fight on points although Mayweather wins afew rounds. If they fought again it would be much closer.
