It was a bad scene and not one I condone at all.

However, I always felt Hagler was being a prima donna about it as well. He whined and moaned about it for years. I saw the exact same thing happen to John-John Molina in Sacramento when he beat Tony Lopez, but I never heard him cry about it like Marv did.

He had the right to celebrate winning the title in the ring, no denying that. But to keep on and on whining about it for years afterwards?

Which he said after Hagler purportedly said: 'I don't touch white flesh' - when Minter went to shake his hand.

'Never forget' are the same words used to describe the horror of two world wars - and this fool invokes their full force for a bit of argy-bargy at a boxing event over 30 year ago. Christ, get a life.

Why are there so many overly defensive, insincere, "that was bad...BUT" posts? This thread is about remembering a particular incident, not trying to explain it away. People are saying Hagler complained about it too much and mentioning John Lennon?

    Seriously guys?

Lol a proper come back don't you think. I remember growing up with a Greek kid as a teenager in New York and I would go over his apt and eat some of his traditional meals sleep over his place, we'd play basketball, party drink and get into neighborhood brawls never really even considering the color of our skin until his mother came from Greece because she could no longer live independent of her children. She despised me....I wasn't allowed in the apt because she was afraid I would **** her daughters meanwhile her daughters would only date black guys and I had plenty of opportunity but never followed through because their brother was like my brother and I didn't want to jeopardize our relationship by banging out one of his sisters. We slowly lost touch but my point here is the brainwashing effect of isolation and ethnocentrism can and will ruin this world....nuff said.

no, your thread, in your own words, is about highlighting how boxing can be ugly. you got defensive when others provided even more pertinent examples.

and that lennon joke is classic.
