Here`s a list of the top 10 welters on March 1980 in the ring magazine, were they better than today`s ring magazine top 10? I feel they were faster than today`s welters and better, but did the 1980 Top 10 have more depth?
    Ray Leonard (champ)
    1. Thomas Hearns
    2. Wilfred Benitez
    3. Pipino Cuevas

    7. Adolfo Viruet
    8. Joergen Hansen
    9. Luis Primera
    10. Clint Jackson
      • Spence Jr. 26-0-0.
      • Crawford. 36-0-0.

Leonard beats the holy hell out of Spence. Hearns eats conflarkes from Bud's skull. Old Pac is no match for Benitez. Cuevas hurts Thurman. Duran gives Porter a crash course on how to be entertaining on the inside, as well as a colossal ass whooping.

After that I don't really care.

Those first two sentences work interchangeably, as Leonard also batters Crawford, and Hearns face plants Spence.

In an all Puerto Rican matchup, El Radar could train for 15 minutes and shut out Danny Garcia.

Cuevas could honestly have four of the top ten out of their in less than six rounds. What he'd would do to guys like Thurman or Porter is a scary prospect. Long lasting damage

He's not on the list, but given how weak Thurman is to the body... put him in with Palomino.

    I dont.

Will had damn near 4 inches of height of Manny - he was taller than Floyd and you saw all the problems Pac had with Floyd's range.

Benitez is a style nightmare for Pac.

In no order, Leonard, Duran, Hearns, Benitez, Crawford, and Spence would all be competitive.

Tier 2 would have Porter, Ugas, Cuevas, Garcia and probably Pac and Thurman if they still have anything left.

    That's over 10 already.

I loved the Clint Jackson Frank Fletcher Father's Day 12 round classic from 1982.

No. He could but I doubt. Especially at 147.
