I have Holmes above Tyson on my list but I reckon Tyson is vastly underrated on this forum.on his march to the title and beyond, his head and lateral movement plus his upper body movement and power in both hands was superb and the man looked terrifying.

Holmes above Tyson? Tyson was undisputed heavyweight champion
I think Holmes never. This says all.
    Plus Tyson destroyed him.
Otherwise the question isn't about who's your favourite 80s fighter.
Tyson won his every 80s fights.Holmes had 3 losses. I think
just an idiota can't accept Tyson was much more successful 80s
    fighter than Holmes.
Holmes proved NOTHING in this question.Maybe he wasn't in prime against Spinks or Tyson, but the "prime fighter" hasn't correct definition.

It is really hared to fairly not give it to Tyson. Easily the best in # of wins, undefeated & undisputed HW champion, no gift decisons, most very decisive & concussive. And the opposition, considering where they were in their career, was not bad for a HW title holder. Many had not lost for years before & after.

It really is not cose when you count up # of wins, # of losses (none), quality of opposition, & general dominance., Opinions may vary re: his future career & H2H match ups.

But he was easily the best of the '80's.

    Choklab..
Have you forgot about Tucker or left him out concsiously ?
Always respect your views...but think Page a bit high ?
Tubbs and Damiani both beat him.

Yes I forgot TUcker, I put him level with about Williams.

Page was hot stuff in the early 80s and was higher regarded at that point than anyone bellow him was at their best on my list outside Holmes and Cooney. Page also held his own in just about all the fights he lost in the 1980s where as that cannot be said about Dokes, Tubbs, Tate, Coetzee, Williams, Berbick who all had shattering type defeats. Plus he actually knocked out a good fighter in Coetzee and Tillis. A lot if the others did not knock out good fighters. At all.

I also forgot Cobb. He was better than given credit. And so was Bey for a time. I recon they go bellow Marvis. Leon Spinks beat mercardo they are worthy of inclusion at the bottom.
